Newsletter: 15/10/7: October Write Group Newsletter
We had another productive meeting tonight. The main theme of our discussions focussed on change, on tumbling from comfort to tension and conflict. Atmosphere and mood come into play in this theme as do the plots of most stories, poems and even columns and essays. It is also the main theme of October, which celebrates harvest via Thanksgiving, change via Autumn, and suspense via Halloween. And this is the premise of this month’s writing prompt: write a poem, story or nonfictional piece that involves in it reading, suspense, Autumnal change, Thanksgiving and an unfamiliar book given as a treat on Halloween. Have fun with this and scare us on November 4, when we meet again.
In the meantime, I have attached this month’s newsletter, which has contests, events, observances and the writing prompt in it. All of the links worked as of this afternoon. I hope you find it useful.
You should be aware that the Tofield Library is hosting a couple of horror and thriller writing workshops, presented by author Judith Graves, tomorrow. I hope some of you can make it.
Remember to visit our blog and other sites for more resources and information. You are welcome to contribute to the blog and make suggestions for the rest of our sites. And you might also want to design a logo for our group.
Until November 4, when we meet again, keep writing,
