Newsletter: 15/6/3: Write Group meeting tonight
I have great news. One of our members is nearly ready to publish his first book. I would like to congratulate DG on this tremendous milestone. DG has written a rich epic fantasy that I found a joy to edit and read. He has been working on this novel and reading sections of it, along with related poems and comics, in our Write Group meetings for a few years now. Not to be complacent, DG has already begun his third and fourth books. His second book is awaiting editing, a service provided on a volunteer basis by the Write Group. By this time in September, we might be announcing that we have a published author as a member. That will be a nice welcome to the new writing year.
Tonight is our last Write Group meeting this year. We have had a great run since September. We had our two to three regulars and occasional visits by other members who wanted to attend a meeting. Once again Edmonton and Strathcona County hosted international and international-quality writing conferences, and we had many stories, writing exercises, prompts and contests, including our internal one, that made for a fun and fulfilling year. Several projects, short and long, were completed; others are still in progress or just initiated. In all, we have much to be proud of as writers and a community. We hope next year will be even better.
So, if you are interested in sending our year off and welcoming Summer with other writers, come join us tonight as we bid the year farewell. We meet tonight at 7:00 pm in the Council Chamber (plush chairs and solid desks) of the Tofield Town Office. We look forward to seeing you there.
If you can’t make it, have a great Summer and see you on September 2.
Until then, keep writing,
